You would like to prepare a healthy, vitamin-rich meal without much effort? Not possible? But it’s very easy – with a Slow Cooker you can cook all your favourite foods – vegetables, fish, meat or even milk and pastries – very gently and enjoy low-fat yet unbelievably aromatic food.
Without pressure – but with a lot of steam! We’ll show you the best Slow Cookers and tell you what they really can do!

How does the Slow Cooker work?

You take your slow cooker, a large pot with a lockable lid that you place on your stove to cook.

Now fill your magic kettle with all your favourite ingredients and slowly let it all go at low temperature – between 70 and 100 degrees Celsius maximum – on your stove.

The cooking time is usually between three and twelve hours, depending on the stove and ingredients, and is therefore longer than with conventional frying or cooking, but softer and much more energy-saving!

A model that really excites us and offers fantastic value for money comes from Crock-Pot. With a capacity of 3.5 litres, this pot is ideal for a two- or three-person household. The bowl can also be placed in the hot oven and put in the dishwasher.

Is a slow cooker good for you?

Now you’re wondering if it’s really worth it for you? Then do our ‘quick test’ here and find out whether you are the right type for this kitchen appliance:

If you can answer ‘Yes’ to at least two questions, then you are the Slow Cooker type!

You can give up control and just let it go? Perfect! A big advantage of this kitchen appliance is that you can use it without supervision. Once filled with the ingredients you want, this closed pot slowly bubbles away.

You like home cooking? Then this ‘magic kettle’ is the hit for you – all kinds of hearty stews, stews and soups can be prepared in it.

You like to plan ahead? Super! Once all the ingredients have been filled in, your finished, aromatic food will be on the table about eight to eleven hours later.

You trust your household appliances and even leave the dishwasher or washing machine running when you’re not in the house? Great – then you’ll really use and love your Slow Cooker.

You like it bigger?

Do you usually cook for several people or like to prepare double the amount of pasta sauce to freeze supplies? Then we recommend a larger model with a capacity of 6.5 litres, which you will certainly like very much.

The kitchen appliance from Andrew James inspires us, not only with its enormous capacity, but also with an integrated timer. So we simply pre-program our dinner and enjoy it without stress.

The inner pot is made of ceramic and the lid of tempered glass with a steam outlet valve.

You like a black model better? The Slow Cooker Bristol by Klarstein looks very stylish and receives an average of 4.5 out of 5 possible stars at Amazon.

With a volume of 6.5 litres, this is also one of the large pots and convinces with its removable, dishwasher-safe ceramic inner pot.

Or would you prefer a steam cooker?

You’re not sure if a Slow Cooker really makes you happy?

What are the disadvantages compared to other cooking methods?

Whole menu sequences cannot be prepared in them. Either fish or meat, and then always prepare the side dishes, such as potatoes or rice, separately.

Sensitive foods such as fish or pasta are not suitable for this purpose and should – if possible – always be added at the end of the cooking time.

Here everything comes in one pot – the Slow Cooker is simply perfect for all kinds of soups, homemade broth, ragouts, casseroles, stews and curry.

But if you want to prepare your food separately, you better choose a steam cooker.
